The work is grounded in a simple principle: to understand what already exists, and to intervene with care. Materials are chosen for how they age. Decisions are measured. The aim is always to clarify rather than impose.
Over two decades, Graeme has worked in Ireland, Britain, New Zealand and Portugal — across civic and cultural projects, academic and institutional work, large-scale heritage restoration, hospitality projects, and highly considered residential work for private clients.
Projects he has worked on over extended periods include the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin, which received an RIAI award; the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London, which received an RIBA London Award; and the restoration of the Arts Centre, Christchurch — a major heritage site of 23 Gothic Revival buildings restored following the Canterbury earthquakes and recognised with two NZIA awards; alongside residential projects in London recognised by New London Architecture.
He has worked with practices including Henry J Lyons in Dublin, Paul Archer Design and Burwell Architects in London, and Warren and Mahoney in Christchurch and Queenstown, New Zealand — shaping a body of work defined by restraint, material sensitivity and respect for context.
In 2024, he moved to Portugal with his family and, in 2025, established ARDUA.
Architecture and Interiors
Susana Sousa is a Portuguese architect working across residential and small-scale hospitality projects, with a focus on carefully considered, client-led design.
Her work is grounded in close collaboration, developing responses that reflect how spaces are used, lived in, and adapted over time.
Trained in Portugal, her experience spans Portugal, New York and London, working across practices of varying scale from concept through to construction, alongside interior and graphic design.
She established her own studio in 2019.
She works closely with ARDUA on projects in Portugal, particularly in early design development and planning processes, where her understanding of local frameworks and permitting is essential.
